BILINGUALISM

Our center has been promoting English language learning for more than a decade in each of the stages we teach.

  • WE ARE A CAMBRIDGE EXAM PREPARATION CENTER: We have an agreement with the University of Cambridge to become a “Cambridge ESOL Exam Preparation Center”. Thanks to this, our students can take the exam and certify their command of English with an internationally recognized qualification.
  • We teach one hour of conversation in English in Primary School within the school timetable.
  • We encourage exchanges abroad during the summer and the first trimester of the school year.
  • Our 5th and 6th grade students enjoy a week of language immersion every year.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE BILINGUAL SECTION

  • The objective of our bilingual section is to complete the quality educational offer to the families that choose our educational project. We use the English language in non-linguistic areas and in extracurricular activities as a way to achieve the mastery of the English language and the approach to other cultures.
  • We want our students to discover the values, rules of coexistence and Anglo-Saxon linguistic and cultural aspects. Valuing the knowledge of other societies and cultures through the use of the English language makes possible the rapprochement, respect and tolerance among European citizens as well as other continents.
  • We seek to know and adequately use the English language in comprehension and expression -both oral and written- as well as the acquisition of the necessary communicative competence to cope in everyday situations.
  • To use information and communication technologies for the learning of English as a vehicle for the approach to other cultures.
  • To achieve that students with special educational needs and those new to the center acquire an improvement in the knowledge of the English language, adapted to their possibilities through the areas of the bilingual section.
  • To awaken the interest and taste for the English language as a form of expression in a natural, familiar and close way, contemplated as an improvement plan.
  • To use plastic expression and knowledge of the natural, social and cultural environment as a learning context for the acquisition of linguistic aspects of English.
