Very excited about the prize awarded by the Junta de Castilla y León, El Norte de Castilla and Renault Spain to our journalism teams of 3rd ESO, double winners in the XIV Edition of the contest “El Norte Escolar”.
Two of our teams – “Las periodistas” and “El Confidencial del Leonés”– were proclaimed winners in the grand final in front of more than 100 public, subsidized and private high schools from all over our autonomous community.
Accompanied by their tutor in the activity (our teacher Mr. Juan Carlos Suárez) the two teams attended yesterday the Award Gala held at the Ministry of Education of Castilla y León in Valladolid.
Our students received their awards from the hands of the Regional Minister of Education of our community (Mrs. Rocío Lucas), the Director of the Renault Foundation Spain (Mr. Jesús Presa) and the Director of El Norte de Castilla (Mr. Goyo Ezama) among other personalities present there.
The “Las Periodistas” team won the prize as the most valued newspaper of the contest by Internet users, and “El Confidencial del Leonés” was awarded the prize for the best newspaper on sustainable and environmental news. María Lozano, a member of the team, won the prize for the best article on sustainable mobility with her report “Traveling in a sustainable way is possible”.
We are very proud of all of them, but above all we are thrilled to see that our commitment to cooperative and creative education is beginning to bear fruit, placing us at the forefront of education in Castilla y León.
